Let's Party on December 5th!

A lot has happened in Kenilworth Forest, and much of it has been amazing to see! So let's celebrate our neighborhood on Dec. 5th at 6:30 PM at the North Asheville Library*. Please bring a side dish, appetizer, or dessert to share (meat and drinks will be provided)

* We had reserved a room for this at the East Asheville Library, but we were told that the city has taken over that space for emergency disaster response services. So they had to move us to the North Asheville Library at 1030 Merrimon Ave, Asheville, NC 28804.

We need to work on the following:

  • pulling small limbs out for brush pickup and lining the walking paths with larger limbs

  • Moving and spreading mulch

  • Picking up litter

If you can come, please bring gloves and any tools that might come in handy such as: wheelbarrows, chainsaws or hand saws, shovels, buckets, garden rakes.

Come out and pitch in with us for a little while or just say hi and see what we're up to!

Park Workday a Huge Success

We had a fun and productive workday in the park on March 23. Signs were installed (paid for by the grant money from the city), mulch was spread, and invasives were removed. If you missed it, don't worry: There will be another one later this year! (We will let you know via email and signs, but you can also check kenilworthforest.org for upcoming events). Thank you to our neighborhood park committee for organizing this!

KWF Signal Group Changes

Hey neighbors,

We are changing a couple things with our Signal Chat groups to better serve our community.

KWF Safety Alerts

The existing Signal group 'KWF Safety Alerts' will return to its original purpose of urgent alerts to neighbors. Examples include: "Unknown and aggressive person at XXX White Pine", "I have reported a gas leak", "bear being aggressive at XXX East Shore", etc. Basically, things your neighbors need to be aware of right away. If you have muted notifications on the KWF Safety Alerts group (understandable), you will likely want to re-enable them. Short video instructions are below for how to re-enable on iPhones and Android devices.

KWF Chat

A new Signal group 'KWF Chat' exists for general socializing. Here is where we need to know why your dog is a gud boi, what type of security camera is best, when bears are being bears (edit: we feel that it’s necessary to alert neighbors to the presence of bears in KWF Safety Alerts), and if you are inviting neighbors to come do donuts in the mall parking lot (lol, please don't do that). All neighbors from the 'KWF Safety Alerts' group will be added to the new 'KWF Chat' group. Simply tap 'Allow' on the Signal app to join the new group when prompted. If you want to manually join you can use the links/QR codes below to do that.

As with the original 'KWF Safety Alerts' group, admission to either group will be approved by one of our Admins and we’ll need the user to indicate that they are in our community.

We recognize that this will be a process and we'll help direct misplaced traffic to the appropriate groups over time. If you need help setting this up you can tap on Neil’s name to send a direct Signal chat or email us at kfraboard@gmail.com.
